San Diego Tamil Sangam is the cultural and social forum that brings together Tamilians in the Greater San Diego region. The Sangam
represents the Tamil community in San Diego and is committed to promoting the growth of Tamil cultural activities in the region.
The Sangam also supports Tamil language education through the Bharathiyar Tamil School, with classes held every Friday night during the school year at a local school.
Although it existed as an informal organization of Tamil families in the San Diego area for over 30 years, SDTS was officially founded as a registered Non-profit Corporation in 2005. SDTS hosts multiple cultural programs every year, to celebrate Tamil festivals such as Pongal and Tamil New Years as well as Deepavali. SDTS conducts an annual Open House and Summer Picnic every summer. SDTS also hosts visiting cultural and literary troupes and celebrities representing all forms of Tamil Art and Literature.
SDTS is represented by the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, which are elected bodies voted in by the Life and Annual members of the General Body.
