Alai Osai is the Web Blog to bring the San Diego Tamil Community together and to showcase their creative written and visual talents. We invite all interested individuals in the community to participate and contribute.

Alai Osai is run by the San Diego Tamil Sangam. SDTS is a non-profit organization representing the Tamil-speaking Community of the Greater San Diego area.

Under SDTS Sponsorship, An editorial committee consisting of volunteers has been set up for running Alai Osai. The duties and responsibilities of this committee are maintaining the quality of writing in Alai Osai, establishing a uniform style, supervising impartiality, balancing the mix of contents, and assisting writers with quality Tamil.

Just about anyone who is interested. Alai Osai participation is not restricted to members of the San Diego Tamil Sangam. Also, eventhough our primary goal is to cater to the Tamil Community living in the Greater San Diego area, contributions from non-San-Diego residents are equally welcome.

• Articles can be Essays, Stories, Poems, Commentary, Jokes, Cartoons, Trivia, Illustrated Paintings or Photographs, or any other suitable form.


• Topics can range from San Diego life, India & Tamilnadu, Tamil communities in other countries and regions, Book reviews, Showbiz, Fine Arts, Politics, Sports, Recipes, or any other topic acceptable and suitable for the San Diego Tamil Community in general.


• The main target audience for Alai Osai is grown-ups. However, Alai Osai will also have a separate section for articles relevant to kids. Feel free to write for this section as well.


• Articles must preferably be in Tamil. Exactly which dialect of Tamil is your choice. We would make exceptions to articles in English, if the Editorial Committee agrees that the individual article is worth presenting in English.


• Needless to say, please be wary of opening controversial or divisive topics in Politics, Religion, etc. This is an initiative to bring the community together, not to divide it.


• The Editorial Committee decides what articles are appropriate for publication on Alai Osai. All articles are reviewed by the Editorial Committee before publication. All authors/contributors are requested to co-operate with the Editorial Committee in this regard.

The Editorial Committee will review your article and work with you to get it published.
